I spent a long time up at the top of the Gornegrat enjoying the fresh mountain air and waiting for the skies to clear before I got my break in the clouds.
As in photography, as in life - behind the clouds, the sky is always blue. If you wait long enough, the sun will shine through.

I had been wanting desperately to go to Jiuzhaigou for so long, but no one was interested in going with me, and then the earthquake happened and put any would-be plans to rest. Finally, years and years and a pandemic later, I managed to drag my mum there with me :’) and it was worth the wait - every bit as magical and healing as I hoped. Nature really is the best medicine.

We went all the way up to the 黄龙五彩池 - gorgeous snowscape and gorgeous pools. I was not expecting snow or for it to be so cold when packing, so I had to full on buy heattech, cashmere and a down jacket the previous night in Chengdu. (Not unlike a year ago when I found myself unprepared for the cold and had to buy cashmere and a down coat in Switzerland…)
